About Marlon

Marlon Molina has lived in the Bronx for over 34 years and has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of Bronx resident for most of his life. He knows that the work of a City Council Member is critical because it impacts the future of our schools, the fabric of our housing stock, and the safety our neighborhoods.

Marlon has a degree in political science and economics from Fordham University and 20 years of community development and public policy experience. He has the skills needed to build partnerships within the private sector and the passion and commitment to focus on the needs of his community.

Marlon was driven to community organizing at an early age when he lost his brother to gun violence. Since that tragic event, he made it his mission to make his community a better place.

As a Community Organizer, Marlon has built partnerships between private and public agencies to develop vacant lots, improve low-income housing and reduce crime. Marlon has served on the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) Development Corporation in the South Bronx and Mid-Bronx Desperados (MBD) Community Development Corporation. At NHS he assisted first time homebuyers in understanding the process of realizing their dream of owning a home. At MBD, a national pioneer in the development of low-income housing, he provided supportive services to seniors and special needs populations.

Today Marlon continues this work as a founding member of the Bronx Volunteer Coalition and as a member on Bronx Community Board 3.

Investing In Our Youth

It is important that we teach our youth personal money management values and skill. Marlon volunteered through Citi’s Community Service to deliver Financial Literacy classes to high school students at the ASPIRA Conference held at Hostos Community College.

Engaging Our Community

Marlon organized voter registration drives for President Obama’s reelection campaign. This was not the first time Marlon organized voter registration drives. As an organizer he always understood that we needed more participation in local elections worked to get Bronx residents registered to vote.

Giving Back To Our Community

As a founding member of the Bronx Volunteer Coalition, Marlon worked to harness the energy of Bronx residents who work tirelessly to improve their neighborhoods in any way they can. Marlon used the experience he acquired as Director of the Neighborhood Resource Institute at Citizens Committee for NYC, to bring together Bronx organizations that deliver supportive services to the neediest residents in the Bronx. As Director of Citizens Committee for NYC he managed grant programs that supported community organizations working on anti-poverty, environmental and neighborhood beautification programs in all five boroughs.
